the Annual Performances
Homecoming Parade
Annually, DALA participates in the Homecoming Parade by entering a float that is typically Nutcracker inspired. All dancers are invited to take part in the parade. There is no cost for participation and costumes are provided by DALA.
Trick or Treat on Mainstreet
The last Friday of October in Los Alamos is Halloweekend. To celebrate Halloween, the city of Los Alamos hosts Trick or Treat on Mainstreet, an opportunity for local businesses to hand out candy to the children of Los Alamos. During this event, DALA performs a Halloween inspired dance downtown in the street. Dancers in the upper levels are invited to perform in this work and there is no cost for participation.
Winter Mixed Repertoire Showcase
the Nutcracker on “The Hill” Trilogy
The first weekend of December in Los Alamos is Winterfest. DALA participates in the festivities by presenting our annual program Nutcracker on “The Hill” at the Duane Smith Auditorium. Our Nutcracker is historically inspired by the history of Los Alamos and presented with the assistance of The Historical Society of Los Alamos. There is a participation fee per performing dancer that covers the production and rehearsal costs of the production. Costumes are provided by DALA.
The Spring Mixed Repertoire Concert
The Young Children's Showcase
The Spring Ballet
DALA presents a full length Ballet production in May to highlight the achievements of our Ballet 2-5 dancers. This performance is at the Duane Smith Auditorium and consists of a full ballet production. Costumes are provided by DALA and participation and casting is by audition only. The Spring Ballet is rehearsed outside of class. There is a performance fee for this performance that is intended to cover the production costs of this performance. This is a wonderful way for our community members in Los Alamos, White Rock, and Northern New Mexico to see what a full production looks like. Past performances include Giselle and The Tales of Don Quixote.
