Homecoming Parade
Annually, DALA participates in the Homecoming Parade by entering a float that is typically Nutcracker inspired. All dancers are invited to take part in the parade. There is no cost for participation and costumes are provided by DALA.
Trick or Treat on Mainstreet
The last Friday of October in Los Alamos is Halloweekend. To celebrate Halloween, the city of Los Alamos hosts Trick or Treat on Mainstreet, an opportunity for local businesses to hand out candy to the children of Los Alamos. During this event, DALA performs a Halloween inspired dance downtown in the street. Dancers in the upper levels are invited to perform in this work and there is no cost for participation.
DALA Winter Mixed Rep.
On December 16, DALA presents the Winter Showcase. This is an opportunity to show the progress that has been made so far for our younger classes and more contemporary classes. It’s a great time to gather together and celebrate the holidays with our DALA Family!
the Nutcracker on “The Hill” Trilogy
The first weekend of December in Los Alamos is Winterfest. DALA participates in the festivities by presenting our annual program Nutcracker on “The Hill” at the Duane Smith Auditorium. Our Nutcracker is historically inspired by the history of Los Alamos and presented with the assistance of The Historical Society of Los Alamos. There is a participation fee per performing dancer that covers the production and rehearsal costs of the production. Costumes are provided by DALA. DALA will perform Nutcracker on “The Hill” Part 1 Where Tchaikovsky meets The Manhattan Project on December 1-3, 2023.
the Spring Performance
In May, DALA presents The Spring Performance at the Duane Smith Auditorium. The program consists of a one full length classical ballet and a mixed repertoire to highlight the progress our dancers have made throughout the year. Costumes for the ballet portion of the program are provided by DALA, and costumes for the mixed repertoire are selected by the individual instructors and purchased by the participating dancers. This performance is intended for dancers in Ballet 2 and above. There is a performance fee for this performance that is intended to cover the production costs of this performance.
the Spring Showcase
Also in May, DALA presents The Spring Showcase at the Duane Smith Auditorium. The program consists of a one act themed group of ballet pieces and a mixed repertoire to highlight the progress our dancers have made throughout the year. Costumes for this performance will be purchased by the participating dancers. This performance is intended for dancers in Dance Exploration, Pre-Ballet and Ballet 1-2. There is a performance fee for this performance that is intended to cover the production costs of this performance.
