Mixed Repertoire

Dance Arts Los Alamos :: Modern Dance

DALA’s Mixed Repertoire Program offers students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of dance styles, including Modern, Jazz, Tap, Flamenco, Scottish Highland, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Tumbling, and more. Whether dancers are discovering a new passion or refining their skills, our program is designed to inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of dance. We strive to prepare our Mixed Repertoire students for the collegiate B.F.A dance world, through rigorous training and opportunities including our Winter Performance, optional Contemporary Repertory Cohort opportunity, Spring Dance Concert performance and more.

Progression and Leveling

Our Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre programs are organized into five progressive levels, guiding students from strong technical foundations through advanced, collegiate-level performance training. Tap, Flamenco, Hip Hop, and Tumbling each follow a three-level curriculum that emphasizes proper technique, safe progression, and artistic growth. Scottish Highland is an open level class open to dancers ages 8-108 who are interested in the genre.

To help dancers reach their full potential, DALA recommends taking the same number of weekly technique classes as the level in which a student is placed. For example, a dancer in Jazz 3 or Contemporary 3 is encouraged to take at least three technique classes each week. This consistent training builds
strength, confidence, artistry, and steady progress throughout the year.

Through disciplined training, creative exploration, and supportive instruction, DALA’s Mixed Repertoire Program helps dancers develop not only strong technical skills but also perseverance, confidence, teamwork, and artistic expression – qualities that benefit them both in the studio and throughout life!
